Biography

Born in Utrecht in the Netherlands, raised in Northern California and based in San Diego for more than 35 years, Lee Sie brings European memory, California light and international travel into one distinctive photographic practice.

Working outdoors, he gathers sky, colour, landscape and architecture as raw material, then uses a considered digital process to create photographs that move beyond documentation. Weather, season and shifting light become active collaborators.

Public presence

Lee Sie’s documented career includes gallery representation, public placements and presentations to photographic communities. His work has been associated with UC San Diego Health, San Diego International Airport and Ghirardelli.

Gallery representation

Studio 54 Fine Art has represented Lee Sie since 2016. The relationship includes a landmark large-format edition sale and a fine-art book devoted to his Italian photographs, published in Milan in 2017.
